How
missionaries make a living
AIM is a "faith mission" organization. That
means the missionaries who work under the banner of AIM are
all individually supported, and the responsibility to raise
that support is the missionary's. AIM does not employ us.
They simply represent us, and us them. Our mission
organization (and the IRS) determines what level of support
is reasonable based on our family size and specific ministry
overseas. This is our "support target," and monthly
contributions from about 50 individuals and 5 churches make
up this support structure for us. We rely on these gifts
to live and work where we do, and ultimately we trust in
faith that God will provide what we need. All money given to
AIM in our name goes to us. It then gets allocated for
our various needs – A salary, health care, pension, and the
various logistics of living and working overseas.
In the years we have been active missionaries, we have seen
our support go up and down. Our "target" has changed as our
family has grown, we have gained supporters along the way,
and lost some too. Although most people make pledges on how
they will give, we never know what will happen from month to
month. Coming from a culture where securing your own
financial independence is supposed to be the key to
happiness, we are certainly traveling in a different
direction. We are, quite simply, constrained to trust God.
Some days this is a struggle, and some days I think we may
have stumbled onto the real key to happiness – being involved
in something bigger than ourselves, and the pursuit of
something far more meaningful than financial success.

Online giving is possible through AIM's website. AIM also
offers an option for setting up automatic contributions from
month to month – a very practical way to help bring stability
to our support structure. Find out more about

Special Project: "Media
Ministry"
This year I begin working with
AIM's On-Field Media team. The ministry is a
new one for our mission, and sorely needed. The goal is
simple: "Declare His Glory" -Psalm 96:3.
Starting out, I will be working with two other guys, both of
them full time in this work, and myself only part time. The
three of us will begin to tell the stories of missions here
in Africa, through writing, video, photography, web, and some
other creative means. It's a grassroots effort... three guys
telling the stories of some 700 missionaries (and beyond.)
Each of us on the team are doing a little of everything, and
we each have to come up with our own
equipment and tools for the job. For me that
includes cameras, both video and still, lenses, software,
computers, and an endless array of hard drives among other
things. I have opened up a project with AIM to help raise
funds and keep me equipped to do this job well. It is an
ongoing project in order to supply a
ministry which will undoubtedly grow rapidly. All financial
gifts are tax-deductible and go directly into our ministry
account. If you would like to support our work in this way,
just send your gift with a note designating it for the
"Delorenzo Media Ministry."
